Farmer stopped from boarding metro because of his clothes

A video has surfaced of a farmer being stopped from boarding Rajajinagar metro station because of his clothes in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru.  After this, on 26 February 2024, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited.  (BMRCL) dismissed a security supervisor.

The incident took place on February 18 at metro station.  A passenger present there had made a video of the incident, which was shared on social media on February 24.  People present at the metro station intervened in the matter and insisted that there was no threat to the farmer’s clothes or him.  The farmer also has a metro ticket and along with this he is not violating all the rules and safety standards of BMRCL.

It is inhuman behaviour to consider someone inferior to you based on his work and attire.  Our farmers are the main food providers of the country.  Those who grow crops deliver their share of the grains to the plates of animals, birds and humans without any discrimination.  BMRCL should not fire those security personnel.  They should be taught to respect our farmers, laborers and sanitation workers who contribute so that the country becomes proud and their children can study.
