Gang rape of a Spanish woman in Dumka, Jharkhand

 A Spanish female citizen was allegedly gang-raped in the Dumka district of Jharkhand late on the night of March 1, 2024. The incident took place in the Kurumahat area of the Hansdiha police station.

The victim was out on a bike with her husband when she claimed that around 8–10 people stopped her and dragged her to a secluded place to rape her.

Dumka SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar said they have detained three people, and further investigation is underway. He said, “Around 10–11 p.m., the woman stopped a police van patrolling the area to seek help. The woman had scratches, so the policemen took her to the hospital, where she told doctors that she had been raped.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) reported last year that there were 6,274 complaints of domestic violence against women each year. According to the data, complaints of dowry harassment were 4,797, complaints of molestation were 2,349, complaints of police indifference towards women were 1,618, and complaints of rape and attempted rape were 1,537.

Taiwan earthquake kills 13 and injures over 1,140: Roger becomes savior

 Taiwan experienced its worst earthquake in 25 years on Wednesday, 3.04.2024. The earthquake measured 7.4 on the Measurement Scale and killed 13 people and injured over 1,140 people. The earthquake affected an area of 18 km from Taiwan’s Hualien City. The depth of the earthquake was about 34.8 km. The earthquake that struck at 5:28 am on Wednesday as per Indian time leveled many buildings and houses. A former drug-sniffing dog named Roger is now acting like a messiah, who lost his job for being too friendly, and is a companion to the Taiwanese rescue team looking for many people still trapped in the earthquake-hit city.
